TO WHAT DOES YOUR SOUL CLING?

March 13.      Joshua ch 19-21

TO WHAT DOES YOUR SOUL CLING?

For as the waistband clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole household of Israel and the whole household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘that they might be for Me a people, for renown, for praise and for glory; but they did not listen.’“

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

GOOD DAY: Let us follow God and stretch our imagination a bit with something we use every day. The pants and its band. The waistband of any form of pants, be it under pants or outer one, must cling tightly to the waist so that it doesn't fall and expose the wearer’s nakedness. This is how God expects us as His children and people to cling to Him. The question now is; how do I cling to God whom I do not see?

HOW DOES A PERSON CLING TO GOD?

It is with the soul of man that he clings to God. God is Spirit and has no physical body that I can hold but He has expressed His soul in the counsel He gives us in His word. He also gives His counsel through nature. It is His counsel that we stay our soul on to obey Him. Fill your soul with His counsel. If you don't have any specific counsel, then praise Him and give glory to Him in your soul always. This is a sweet and sour battle. The soul is more akin to clinging to the situation he sees. The challenge or rejoicing that he sees with his natural senses. The promise of God seems far away, strange and uncertain to the human mind. The Psalmist puts it this way;

My soul cleaveth unto the dust: Quicken thou me according to thy word.“ ‭‭Psalms‬ 119‬:‭25‬ ‭ASV‬‬  The human soul is prone to cleave to the downward negatives that we see around us. It is the word of God that quickens the soul to cling to God.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to fill my soul with Your name or Your word all the time.

  1. Draw near with faith as we cling to God.
    Hebrews 10:22
    Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

    1. Correct. You got it. His word
      Should be in our hearts.
