LIFE BEYOND BEREAVEMENT: HOPE
February 13. Numbers ch 7-9
BEYOND BEREAVEMENT 2 (HOPE)
”Now we do not want you to be uninformed, believers, about those who are asleep [in death], so that you will not grieve [for them] as the others do who have no hope [beyond this present life].“
1 Thessalonians 4:13 AMP
GOOD DAY: Yesterday, we saw that 1. Death is a reality for each one of us. 2. Our times are in the hands of God, in fact, He recorded the time He planned for you before you were born. Psalm 139:16.
Today, we move to see what believers should do when they are bereaved. The believer should grieve, it is okay to grieve but it must be done with HOPE BEYOND THIS PRESENT LIFE. Jesus Christ brought the new dispensation to the meaning of life after He lived, died and resurrected. His resurrection brought reality to life after this existence with a perspective on how to live in this present life. Before Christ came, God promised a LONG LIFE Psalm 91:16 to those who abide under His shelter. This is because the curtain covering the Holy of Holies was covered by a curtain which was torn in two when Jesus gave up His Spirit on the cross. God then replaced our vision with seeing into the spirit realm. The promise changed from LONG LIFE TO ETERNAL LIFE hallelujah. Hope changed from being countable years to uncountable. Death changed from being an end to a transition to eternity. With this hope, grieving changed to the expectation of meeting again. The sting of death became the sting of flesh missing flesh but the memory of the departed lives on. Tomorrow, we shall look at how this understanding should affect how we live our lives here. Before I leave today though, you have to decide the eyes through which you view eternity. You can choose Jesus who opened our vision with His death taking you to eternity with Him or any other means or person who had his vision because Jesus had torn the curtain and all could see. The implication is that he will take you to where his vision promises you. Jesus promises you a life of peace here and heaven with Him in the life after. The choice is yours but I advise you to choose Jesus.
PRAY: Dear Lord, thank You for Jesus and thank You for giving me understanding. Help me to live by this understanding.
