ENDURANCE ENHANCER 1

[1] Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [2] fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

GOOD DAY: Have you ever had to endure pain while waiting for God to perform His word to you? The pain could be physical, emotional or financial. If you have had any and you did not fall by disbelieving God or helping him thinking He is not able, then I give you kudos and I believe God does too and recognizes you. There are various reasons why God delays performing His promise to us. I will only look at His reason for Abraham’s as he is the father of faith and space will not allow me to look at more. Isaac is the son of Abraham from Sarah in their old age. He is a long awaited promise. God told Abraham to go and offer Isaac to Him on a mountain that He specified. Abraham obeyed. It was like giving the promise back to God. God then stopped Abraham at the point he was ready to offer Isaac and gave the main reason for delayed promises. Hear what He said to Abraham after he obeyed. 

[11] But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” [12] He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

God knew Abraham would not withhold anything from Him God. Abraham would not leave obeying and following God no matter what. How many of us have left God after we got our promise? How many of us have kept God in the secondary even tertiary position because of our gift from Him? It is the abandoning of God after He fulfilled His promise to many nations that has made the world turn their back on God. For people to hold on when promises are not yet fulfilled by God, their endurance is high and  has to be enhanced. Tomorrow, we will look at endurance enhancers. 

PRAY: Dear Lord, today, I pray that You remember and answer those who are earnestly waiting and looking up to you for Your promise. Show Yourself faithful on their behalf.
