GOD DOES NOT SUPPORT LAZINESS

November 1.         Luke ch 10-12

DOES GOD SUPPORT LAZINESS?

For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

GOOD DAY: This is the beginning of the eleventh month of the year, thank God that you and I are alive on this side of existence. It is time to start taking stock of our relevance in the outgoing year. The poorest countries in the world have been noticed to be the most praying and religious countries. It makes one wonder if God supports laziness. Pastors and spiritual leaders have capitalised on the laziness of the minds of people to manipulate them and promise them a windfall of fortune if they could put down the little that they have as a sacrifice to God. They use all sorts of scriptures to back their claims and the flock believe them. Does God really back laziness and gives manna freely from heaven? Will God and angels come down to develop the earth? That is the duty of man. If you notice that before God made Adam, He first created the work he was to do.

Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The garden was first created then man was created on the sixth day, the final day that God concluded creation. So when Christians or any other religious people fall under the spell of laziness and abandon their work to go and pray or for any spiritual programs, it is not supported by God. Pastors and spiritual leaders should do their work and engage the flock in a minimal way. Everybody should be taught the way to live to please God by the spiritual leaders and the flock should be left to till their own portion of God’s creation.

…“then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭18‬:‭20‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Moses was to teach the chosen leaders the way they were to live and they in turn teach the flock to do the same. So each person must work and laziness is not supported by God.

Today’s exercise: What is your work? How well do you do it? If your answer is ‘I can’t find any work’ then what can you do outside paid employment? Sit and ask God for what you can do.

PRAY: Dear Lord, please open my understanding to what needs to be done to look after the earth that You created and help me to do it.
