HOW FAR DID ABRAM SEE?
October 28. Mark ch 11-13
HOW FAR DID ABRAHAM SEE?
[14] The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; [15] for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.
Genesis 13:14-15 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: If you were to stand and look to the north, south, east and west from wherever you are, how far do you think you can see? Abram was a man like you so he could not have seen far with his natural eyes. However, God is spirit talking to the spirit of Abram and Abram looked with his spiritual eyes; his imagination. We all have to know how to use our imagination to be able to follow God. Since I started training my imagination, I have had sustained peace and joy no matter the circumstance. Friend, start becoming conscious of your imagination and begin to train it to see the good that God created you for. Most of our fears are in our imagination and they affect us adversely or positively depending on how the imagination is. I experienced a young man who imagine a much older woman to be his enemy and he is fighting with her with all his energy and feeling his life is a battle. Even when everything is in his favor, he is miserable because like Hamman with Mordcai in the book of Esther, he is not content as long as he sees the elderly woman. Be mindful of your imagination for it rules your life.
The good thing about our imagination is that it forms the legacy that you leave behind for your descendants. What Abram saw would be left for his descendants even when he had no child yet. Listen to the summary in Hebrews11
“All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.”
Hebrews 11:13, 39-40 NASB1995
The lesson here is that whatever we receive in our imagination could be extended to our descendants. Be careful with your imagination.
PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to see good in spite of what the place that I am is saying.
