LEARNING TO LOVE MYSELF

August 14.          Jeremiah ch 7-9

LEARNING TO LOVE MYSELF

Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord. For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.

Jeremiah 17:5‭-‬6 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: The greatest act of disservice we do to ourselves is expecting us to do more than we are made to bear. The above verse is not limited to trusting others and expecting them to perform but trusting in your own arm of flesh. We are [trained from childhood to trust what we can do by ourselves. Parents program us at home and teachers at school to perform, to think and to depend on our own self. It is the biggest obstacle to self love. We are not taught to trust God. Whoever trusts God is counted as lazy. The teachers of religion do not help either. They portray a cheap father Christmas God who will drop manna from heaven so people's trusts are misplaced. The man who trusts in the Lord however will be as described below:

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.  Jeremiah 17:7‭-‬8 NASB1995

If you want to love yourself, you need to know how to trust in the Lord and not trust in yourself. Difficult to do but with practice and help of the Holy Spirit, it is possible. Tomorrow, we will look at how to trust in the Lord. We are learning together so please send some contributions so we can grow together.

PRAY: Dear Lord, it is hard to stop relying on my power and might and start relying on You. Help me Lord to understand how to trust in You.
