TIME TO BOND WITH GOD. (1)

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 ESV

GOOD DAY: Many people including myself keep asking if God still talks to people especially ordinary people like you and I. I look at these examples and I made up my mind to study the topic. At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God. About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.” And he stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.” Acts 10:1‭-‬6 ESV. A soldier, an ordinary man not a priest. The widow of Zarephath is another person. So will God talk to you or me like this? The answer is YES. Our problems are first, we either don't believe He exists or if we believe He does, we think the days of talking to men have passed. We also don't believe we are good enough for Him to talk to us or that we need to engage in some religious activities and in most cases, we simply don't understand His voice. However, there are those who don't have all the above problems but simply avoid bonding with God for fear they may not like what He will say to them. I call that the Jonah syndrome. Whatever your fears or beliefs may be not withstanding, the time we are in now calls for real time bonding with God and having Him lead you always. It is a virtue that we need to study and practice to live a peaceful life when men shall enact laws that will not give us peace. We will continue tomorrow to look into understanding His voice.
