TWO MEN IN ONE

MAY 14.            Psalm ch 52-54

THE TWO IN ONE

But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature]. 1 Corinthians 2:14‭-‬15 AMP

GOOD DAY. There are two men in the scripture above and they both dwell in you and me at the same time. The first is so predominant that it takes a lot of reawakening and information for me to know and understand  the second one. The first is the natural man. This man came with some basic things that don't need teaching. He knows how to breathe, his heart beats automatically, he knows when he needs food, he knows when to pee and poo without any instructions. This natural man is taught to use his brain as soon as he comes out. He is told not to shout when he is hungry and is trying to get the attention of his caretaker, his poo and pee are judged and as soon as he can stand, he is potty trained. Then he goes to school and his brain is developed to specialize in a profession and he is taught all sorts of manners and how to behave. I retain this man all my life and he is constantly with me to interpret natural things and guide me. However, his knowledge is very limited. He doesn't understand the things he cannot feel with his five senses and does not know the things of the spirit although he is spirit. If his spirit leaves him, he dies and he is useless. This man is in my brain.

The second man is the spiritual man. He is in my heart. He is ‘asleep’ and has to be awakened by the Spirit of God. The natural man hears the gospel of Jesus and his spirit man is quickened. He becomes linked to God and the word of God becomes meaningful to him. He discerns spiritual things and he is not limited by the five senses. He rejoices and has peace even when everything around him is turbulent and uncertain because he hears the word of God. What the spirit man hears from God does not make sense to the natural man because he cannot rationalize it.

Although the spirit man is awakened in me, sometimes, I listen to the shout of the natural man and I become worried, anxious, angry, envious and many such emotions. This is why Apostle Paul cried out saying  "

My lofty desires to do what is good are dashed when I do the things I want to avoid. So if my behavior contradicts my desires to do good, I must conclude that it’s not my true identity doing it, but the unwelcome intruder of sin hindering me from being who I really am. Through my experience of this principle, I discover that even when I want to do good, evil is ready to sabotage me. Truly, deep within my true identity, I love to do what pleases God. But I discern another power operating in my humanity, waging a war against the moral principles of my conscience and bringing me into captivity as a prisoner to the “law” of sin—this unwelcome intruder in my humanity. What an agonizing situation I am in! So who has the power to rescue this miserable man from the unwelcome intruder of sin and death? I give all my thanks to God, for his mighty power has finally provided a way out through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So if left to myself, the flesh is aligned with the law of sin, but now my renewed mind is fixed on and submitted to God’s righteous principles."

Romans 7:19‭-‬25 TPT We will continue from here.

PRAY: Dear God, help me to live above my natural self.
