SELF TALK

May 31.     Psalms ch 55-57

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOURSELF?

And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.”  Matthew 9:20‭-‬21 NASB1995

GOOD DAY: The day I became aware that I am my own ultimate counselor was the day I began to take responsibility for my life. When you are not conscious of your self-talk, then you tend to assume that others influence your decisions or blame others for your mistakes.  You can listen to other people's opinions and experiences but the ultimate decision of what you will do lies with you and that depends on what you say to yourself.

The woman in the scripture today had a hemorrhage for twelve years. Doctors had  given her treatments that failed and probably given her a death sentence, her friends might have told her a lot and rejected her, then she had about Jesus the healer. She talked to herself about what she would do when she got to Jesus and went by her counsel to seek Him. She acted her counsel by touching His garment in spite of the crowd and the ceremonial law that barred her from touching people and she got her healing.

What are you saying to yourself about your situation? What do you say to yourself by default? Try listening to yourself and see what motivates your inner self talk; faith or fear; love or hate; contentment or greed and so on. Talk to yourself in a godly way and enjoy His goodness.

PRAY: Dear Lord, help me to talk of Your goodness to myself in Jesus name.
