MIND YOUR WEIGHT

February 27.  Judges ch 18-21

MIND YOUR WEIGHT

“but you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines have been drinking wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which do not see, hear or understand. But the God in whose hand are your life-breath and all your ways, you have not glorified. Then the hand was sent from Him and this inscription was written out. “Now this is the inscription that was written out: ‘MENÄ’, MENÄ’, TEKÄ’L, UPHARSIN.’ This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENÄ’’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it. ‘TEKÄ’L’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. ‘PERÄ’S’—your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians.””

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬-‭28‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

GOOD DAY: There is a Belshazzar in many of us if not all when we are placed in exalted or advantaged positions over others. For Belshazzar, he was over a whole kingdom. For you and me, it may be over a family circle or circle of friends or office bubble. We fail to see our advantaged position as a gift from God and we exalt ourselves above Him by giving out full wickedness or the full vengeance of our power on those we believe to be at our mercy. Your exalted position is the scale that God is using to weigh you. Do you behave in ways that glorify God or do you flex your muscles as much as you can to hurt others? God is weighing you and at the fullness of time He will check what you weigh and remove you from the exalted position if you are full of pride. Remember that whoever you are oppressing with your pride has God in him and he cries to God for help when things become unbearable. God will arise to declare  MENÄ’, MENÄ’, TEKÄ’L, UPHARSIN.’ against you. If you don’t take cognisance of God in your life, then you are on the path to God sending a message of what you weigh and what you deserve. Just as we place ourselves on a physical scale to measure how heavy we are, put yourself on a spiritual and moral scale to see how heavy or light you are in giving honor and glory to God from your heart and blessing others.

For this reason, I ask people not to stress themselves over wicked leaders but take their matter to God. It is a pity however that the world does not believe that there is God and those who believe are not sure that He has the power to do anything or much about their situation. For the sake of those who believe, I pray that God will arise and bring the arrogant down from their high horses.

PRAY: Dear Lord, I pray that You see the proud and bring them down from their high horses for the sake of those who trust in You. Don’t let them be discouraged.
