WORTHY KIND GAME
January 30. Leviticus ch 27- Numbers ch 3
A WORTHY KIND GAME
“Jesus replied: As a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, robbers attacked him and grabbed everything he had. They beat him up and ran off, leaving him half dead. A man from Samaria then came traveling along that road. When he saw the man, he felt sorry for him and went over to him. He treated his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put him on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next morning he gave the innkeeper two silver coins and said, “Please take care of the man. If you spend more than this on him, I will pay you when I return.””
Luke 10:30, 33-35 CEV
GOOD DAY: This story tells of another drama in the stage of a man’s mind. This is called Kind Game or Kind Drama. The man saw a wounded traveler who had been attacked by robbers and dispossessed of all his belongings and abandoned. A Pharisee and a Levite had passed by him and ignored him. They probably thought in their minds how touching a dying or dead man would make them unclean; or probably how he was paying for his sins; or probably that he was beaten and thrown out of the city for an offense against God. Those were the usual dramas in the minds of Pharisees and Levites.
However, a common man, a Samaritan, had a different game in his mind that we should all emulate. He showed kindness to the man, bound his wounds as a first aid measure, took him to an inn, paid for his treatment and left money to continue the treatment with a promise to pay whatever is excess on his way back.
What kind of game do you play in your mind?
The world has become so wicked now that being a Good Samaritan may be difficult for fear of being wounded yourself but God delivers His own. In obedience to His word and Spirit, we will be safe both here and eternity.
PRAY: Lord, give me a kind heart that will yield to Your Spirit and not just letters of the law.
