PEACE ; THE VOICE OF GOD.
January 8. Genesis ch 29-32
PEACE:(The voice of God)
“I will hear what God the Lord will say; For He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones; But let them not turn back to folly.” Psalms 85:8 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: The day I received a text from a friend that our common friend slipped, fainted and was then in intensive care on live support, I was pierced in my heart and afraid for a short while then a peace I could not explain enveloped my mind. I prayed for her and asked God to heal her. We prayed and still I had peace that she would be healed. The healing God gave her however was to call her home. O such peace on her face in that homeward sleep!
Peace I have got to know is the language and voice of God. No matter how ‘bad’ a situation seems to be, the peace of God in a person shows His presence and will.
Peace of God does not mean the absence of turbulence or challenges. It means that in spite of any storm, you have peace in your heart. The story of Jesus in the storm with His disciples illustrates this.
“And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?””
Mark 4:37-38 NASB1995
Jesus had the peace of God that passes all understanding so He could sleep in spite of the storm at sea. How can one experience this peace of God? It is by knowing and believing in the revealed nature of God.
God is a mystery that dwells within us and without at the same time. He also dwells everywhere and that is why He is Omnipresent. He has His will about everything in the universe and He has appointed time and season for everything on earth. Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. He has recorded His will in the bible and expects that our imaginations revolve around His will.
God is love. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8 NASB1995. Man can imagine and create anything but if it is not in alignment with His will, there will be no peace. Until the world realigns itself with His will, peace will elude it.
In conclusion, the song of Hannah brings out the nature of God that gives His peace in any circumstance.
"Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed. The bows of the mighty are shattered, But the feeble gird on strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for bread, But those who were hungry cease to hunger. Even the barren gives birth to seven, But she who has many children languishes. The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. The Lord makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts. He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, And He set the world on them. He keeps the feet of His godly ones, But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might shall a man prevail."
1 Samuel 2:3-9 NASB1995
PRAY: Dear Lord, please cause man in search of peace to acknowledge Your majesty.
