BE KIND TO YOUR MIND

January 31.   Numbers ch 4-7

BE KIND TO YOUR MIND.

“The seeds that fell among the thornbushes are also people who hear the message. But they start worrying about the needs of this life. They are fooled by the desire to get rich and to have all kinds of other things. So the message gets choked out, and they never produce anything.”   ‭‭Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭CEV‬‬

GOOD DAY: We all make an effort to be kind to others. When you act in unkind ways to others, onlookers tag you as a bad person.  I also notice that each person is very kind to his body. We spend so much money, time and energy bathing, creaming, feeding the body with healthy foods and all sorts of efforts to be kind to the body. But no one observes or pays attention to be kind to his mind. Perhaps because nobody sees the self battered or abused mind until it breaks down then we start looking for mental health solutions. If you are conscious of how much garbage we dump in the mind and how we flog our minds with toxic thoughts, you will feel sorry for your mind.

HOW DO YOU SHOW KINDNESS TO YOUR MIND? The way you process events in your mind shows the level of kindness that you show to your mind.

“A joyful, cheerful heart brings healing to both body and soul. But the one whose heart is crushed struggles with sickness and depression.”    Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭22‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Joy and cheerfulness is the way of being kind to the mind. Whoever can master the art of remaining cheerful no matter the condition has mastered kindness to his mind. I learnt a lesson from two young boys. They were forced to live with a couple they did not like. They were treated like prisoners by the couple. I asked them how they survive there and they both said we just look for what makes us happy. I didn’t bother to go further as I didn’t want them to become emotional. Look for a reason to be happy even in the worst of situations.

Learn to forgive and let go of offenses. The more you harbor unforgiveness, the more unkind you are to your mind.

Learn not to worry about the cares of this world. Rather, pray and give thanks. By praying and giving thanks as often as it comes to your mind, you are showing kindness to your mind. Lastly, follow this appeal and you will always be kind to your mind.

“Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.”‭     ‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

PRAY: Dear Lord, please make me kind to my mind.
