WHY THE WICKED PROSPER
November 4. John ch 15-17
WHY DO WICKED PEOPLE PROSPER?
“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They *said, “The first.” Jesus *said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.” Matthew 21:31-32 NASB1995
GOOD DAY. There is hardly any one who does not wonder why wicked people prosper. The bible is full of lamentations by the prophets and people of old who watched how the wicked and godless people in their community prospered while the righteous suffered. We observe it these days too that some are even giving up on being righteous. Jesus gave the secret to entering into the promise of God. Every principle of living that God puts in place from creation are most times considered evil for the Christians to engage with through man made doctrines. One of such principles for example is the principle of meditation. We are either too lazy to learn how to meditate or we don’t understand what to do and refuse to seek. It is as we meditate that we get things done that will turn our world around. Joshua 1:8 When unbelievers meditate, they achieve what meditation is meant to produce for those who do it.
Another thing that those who don’t believe do that we fail to do is to read and do what their religion teaches them. See what Jesus told John to tell us:
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Revelation 1:3 NASB1995. Blessings fall on those who read, listen to, and heed what is written in the bible. We refuse to do that. Jesus mentioned that the children of the world are wiser in their generation than those of the light. Luke 16:8-9. “And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.” Luke 16:8 NASB1995
The righteous are to study scriptures and follow what it teaches so they can enjoy what it promises. Like day follows night persistently, promised reward must follow persistent obedience to scriptures if we do not give up.
PRAY: Dear Lord, make me wise in things of Your kingdom.
